Food and St Ives are a match made in heaven. With an abundance of superb local ingredients, well travelled chefs and views to admire all day long, our food scene is rather special. Here is our pick of the St Ives food stops…
PORTHMINSTER BEACH CAFE
It’s the St Ives classic. Well renowned, award winning and situated with stunning views slap bang on Porthminster Beach. We love it here, the Asian influences, fresh seafood and good wine list make it a solid choice. See Porthminster Beach Cafe website.
PORTHGWIDDEN BEACH CAFE
The ‘sister’ to the Porthminster, Porthgwidden is small and intimate. We really like lunches here, overlooking St Ives Bay. The seafood is good and it’s an easy place to while away a couple of hours. See Porthgwidden Beach Cafe.
THE HUB
Do you like… Good burgers? Good coffee? Craft beers? Then The Hub should be a stop off for you. A great place any time of day and always good for watching the world pass by on the harbour front. See The Hub
THE CELLAR BISTRO
A bistro with great food and service. Never an overly complicated menu, this is a bit of a hidden gem where getting the execution and service just right is very important to the owners. See Cellar Bistro website
THE BLACK ROCK
A restaurant opening seasonally The Black Rock is well established on the St Ives food scene. Well cooked food in a modern restaurant, the artwork adorning the walls is always worth a peek. See Black Rock website
THE HIDDEN KITCHEN
A relatively new addition to the St Ives scene. Experienced hosts Georgie and partner James who is also the chef, have created a unique concept offering superb feast nights and a special place for private dining. See The Hidden Kitchen
PORTHMEOR BEACH CAFE
An absolute favourite of our team. From breakfast, hot chocolates in winters, sunsets in summer or just a good bite to eat at lunch time. The heated alcoves are great for watching sundown. The food is never a let down either.
Don’t miss… St Ives Food Festival
If like us, you love food, then don’t miss the St Ives Food Festival in May. Stacks of local talent bring out all sorts of food for you to enjoy on Porthminster Beach. Chef’s you’ll have heard of and seen on TV will be here too, showing you exactly how to prepare the amazing dishes you see on your screen.
Cocktails, locally produced sparkling wine, ciders and beers will keep your thirst quenched whilst basking in the sun. Food to eat there and then, treats for those at home and enough ingredients to make dinner for a few days.
We hope to see you there.
